VT Cosmetics

VT Cosmetics is a South Korean skincare brand whose roots go back to Gonsen, the company founder Jeong Cheol established in 2010 after running several online clothing stores. In 2019, VT Cosmetics was merged into GMP, its parent company, which then renamed itself VT. In 2017 the brand signed BTS for a marketing campaign, which helped it grow quickly.

VT's approach is to combine natural ingredients with new technologies to create at-home skincare inspired by professional skin services. Before the Reedle Shot, its Cica line was the brand's best-known range, with the gel-like Cica Cream built on a proprietary blend of centella asiatica, centella derivatives and green propolis.

The Reedle Shot is VT's signature innovation. It uses Cica Reedle technology: fine, toothpick-shaped spicules made from purified hydrolysed sponge and coated in a cica complex, designed to work on the skin's surface and help the products you apply next absorb. The formula also includes a Cica-Hyalon Complex of centella derivatives and hyaluronic acids. It comes in graduated strengths, from 50 for very sensitive skin to 100, 300 and 700, and the technology now extends to masks, eye creams, a Vita-Light range and a lip plumper.

For shoppers, start low and go slow: begin with Reedle Shot 50 or 100 a few times a week, follow with a soothing moisturiser, and wear SPF daily.
