CANMAKE was launched in 1985 by IDA Laboratories, a Tokyo cosmetics company. Its name, from the phrase 'You Can Make It', reflects its wish to help people become the person they want to be through makeup.

The brand was inspired by self-service cosmetics overseas, where shoppers could choose and try products freely. CANMAKE set out to bring that experience to Japan with high-quality makeup at affordable prices, arranged so it's easy to pick the right shade without needing help.
