Dr. Althea is a South Korean derma-skincare brand founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife team Evelyn Lee and Lee Dong-hoon, and run by their company The Pure Lab. Evelyn had battled unexplained skin troubles despite trying many high-end products, and that experience shaped the brand's mission: gentle yet effective skincare for sensitive skin.

The name joins 'Doctor', for skincare expertise, with Althea, a figure from Greek mythology associated with care and recovery. Its motto, 'Only Essentials.
