Biodance

Biodance is a South Korean skincare brand run by Beauty Selection Co., Ltd., a Seoul company founded in 2020 by Park Jae-bin, formerly of Altos Ventures and tech firm Hyperconnect, and Kim Mi-hwa, a self-described beauty obsessive who had worked in cosmetics distribution. The company name reflects its aim of selecting genuinely good products for customers.

The founders' starting belief was that product quality, not marketing budgets, should be what wins customers. After experimenting with several categories, Beauty Selection focused on Biodance and on reinventing the sheet mask, a K-beauty classic that had been undercut by cheap competition.

The result was the Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask, a hydrogel mask made by setting concentrated essence into a semi-solid gel instead of soaking it into paper. As the essence absorbs, the mask gradually turns transparent. The formula combines ultra-low-molecular collagen, low-molecular oligo hyaluronic acid and galactomyces ferment filtrate, and the team tested gram by gram to settle on a 34g mask that clings without feeling heavy. Biodance entered Amazon US in the second half of 2022, and by late 2024 most of its sales came from outside Korea.
